Diss Carnival 2024- All you need to know!

14 June 2024

The Diss Carnival Committee have been busy behind the scenes, planning this year's 'Wild West' Parade and Fun Day for Sunday 16th June. As we approach the weekend of the event, the team are excited to reveal what they have planned for you all!

Prepare to be transported to the excitement and adventure of the frontier – the shops have decorated their windows, local groups and businesses are putting the final touches on their carnival floats and costume ideas, the entertainment acts are waiting in the wings! It’s almost time to dust off your cowboy boots and polish those sheriff badges guys and gals!

A Rootin' Tootin' Parade

This year, around 30 procession floats and groups will be travelling through the town, all decorated in our Wild West theme. The procession kicks off at 12:30 PM from Diss High School, following the usual route along Walcot Road, down Mount Street through the Market Place, Mere Street, and Park Road, concluding at Diss Park just in time for the Fun Day to begin! Winners of the best dressed float, best walking group and most flamboyant entry (in memory of Pete Gillings) will be announced at the Fun Day.

Carnival Fun Day at Diss Park

With over 50 stalls joining us on the Park, you’ll be spoilt for choice! From a fantastic selection of foodies catering to all tastes, sweet treats, bars, entertainers, and crafters to plenty of interactive activities for all ages, there’s something for everyone. Enjoy gold-panning, rodeo-riding, Texas two-step dance lessons, live country music, face painting, free themed craft activity area, soft axe throwing and lots more!

This year, the funfair will be in the car park, providing extra space for even more entertainment!

Jam-Packed Entertainment Schedule

Our main stage and entertainment area will be bustling all afternoon with performances from the Jeff Gallant Duo, Foolhardy Circus & Specialist Whip Act, Western Stunt Show, Tribe All dancers and the Fun Dog Show, so your four-legged friends can join in the fun too!

New for 2024, enjoy live music and entertainment in the park pavilion until 8:30 PM, keeping the carnival vibes alive even after the main Fun Day wraps up at 5PM!

Parking

Free parking is available at Morrisons & Tesco Supermarkets, just a short walk from Diss Park and the town centre. Additional public car parks, all free on Sundays, are located at Mount Street, Weavers Court, Shelfanger Road, Chapel Street, and Church Street.

Special Thanks

A special thank you to all the shops participating in this year’s Window Dressing Competition, beautifully decorating their windows to celebrate our 'Wild West' theme and spreading the Carnival spirit throughout the town centre!
