Council Meetings

In order to focus on specific areas of business, the Town Council has two committees; Executive and Assets, Infrastructure & Events, and three sub-committees; Planning, Carnival and the Christmas Lights Switch-On.
​
The Town Council, and its committees, meet periodically according to a calendar that is agreed at the start of the council's year - usually in May.

Meetings are held in the Council Chamber at The Corn Hall.

A Council Committee Terms of Reference is a formal document that outlines the purpose, scope, responsibilities and operating procedures of a committee established by the council. It serves as a guiding framework to ensure clarity in the committee’s role and functions.

When Are Meeting Agendas and Minutes Published?
​
Agendas are published on our website three clear working days prior to the meeting. A copy is also displayed on the noticeboard outside the Town Council Offices.
Minutes of Council meetings are available as soon as possible after the meeting but usually between one and two weeks. They are published in draft form and approved at the next meeting.

Please note: The 26th March 2025 Executive Committee meeting has been cancelled due to an Extraordinary Full Council meeting being called on 2nd April 2025.
PUBLIC ATTENDANCE AT MEETINGS
Decisions that councillors make often affect the lives of those working and living in the town. So, as a council, we have to make sure all decision making is transparent and accountable.

All council meetings are open to the public, with an opportunity for you to discuss items on the agenda.
