JOB DESCRIPTION

Position –          Maintenance Team Member (Litter Collection)

General –          Part-time 86.5 hours per calendar month – variable daily hours from 6am (includes weekends/bank holidays on a 4 day on 4 day off rota) – 6 hours per day

Salary scale 2-4 (£17,711 – 18,426 pro rata for part-time)

As a key member of a small but dedicated maintenance team and reporting to the Maintenance Manager, your primary role is to undertake allocated litter collection and cleaning duties at Council properties to a high standard. 

The Town Council owns and/or has responsibility for a number of sites around the town including Diss Cemetery, the Sports Ground, Diss Park, Madgett’s Walk, Mere’s Mouth, the Market Place, the Corn Hall, Rectory Meadow, The Lowes, The Entry and the Diss Youth and Community Centre.

Your secondary role is to undertake allocated maintenance duties of all Council properties in and around the town.

Specific tasks as specified by the Maintenance Manager or Deputy Town Clerk include:

  1. Emptying litter bins and clearing Council-owned properties of litter
  2. Cleaning toilets
  3. Providing assistance to other members of the team or to cover staff sickness/holidays. Duties may include grass-cutting, tidying paths, small repairs, event set up, water-jetting and clearing debris
  4. Locking and unlocking buildings/facilities as required with responsibility for safeguarding keys and property belonging to Diss Town Council
  5. Transporting equipment/materials in a Council-owned van
  6. Any other related tasks as may be required from time to time by the Maintenance Manager or the Deputy Town Clerk.

The Town / Deputy Clerk may from time to time by mutual agreement wish to amend your job description and you may be requested to undertake additional or other duties as necessary to meet the requirements of the Council.
