Star Wing Brewery

Craft ale and culture unite at Star Wing Brewery’s annual beer and theatre festival.

From Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th July, the popular ShakesBeer Festival returns for a second year to Star Wing Brewery in Redgrave, Suffolk.

Kicking off at 2pm, craft ale enthusiasts can sample over 20 delectable brews from an impressive array of micro-brewers, both local to East Anglia and from further afield – not forgetting Star Wing’s own six core craft ales, brewed just yards away.

There will also be a variety of food on offer throughout the day and night, courtesy of Citrus and Smoke, Reggae Kitchen, Wicked Pig and Planet of the Crepes, giving festival-goers the opportunity to enjoy a bite alongside their brews.

Then as the sun descends, local players will delight expectant crowds with an outdoor theatre performance of Shakespeare’s much-loved comedy, Twelfth Night.

“Last year’s ShakesBeer Festival attracted hundreds of real-ale enthusiasts and audience members, as well as dozens of local volunteers eager to get involved with a beer festival that offered something a little bit different,” commented Star Wing Brewery Manager David Upton.

“We hope this year’s festival will be even bigger and better. We’re also keen to offer even more Shakespearean fun for all the family, so as well as a performance of Twelfth Night taking place every day of the festival, the Rust and Stardust Puppet Show will be providing a daytime performance of Shakespeare’s The Tempest!”

And no festival would be complete without music. A full programme of local bands will be on offer during the day and through into the evening, including jazz four-piece Jonny Hepbir Quartet and funk legends Mick the Baker Band.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly summer festival that offers an impressive selection of ales, great food, live music, theatre and a good helping of community spirit, head to Star Wing Brewery between 11th and 14th July.

Admission to the beer festival is free.

Performances take place at 7.30pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and at 2.30pm on Sunday.

Tickets for Twelfth Night can be purchased from the Star Wing Tap Room or online at https://redgraveshakesbeerfestival.eventbrite.co.uk: £15 for adults and £10 for children.

Notes to editors: Where once stood a redbrick sawmill, Star Wing Brewery is a place where hops and heritage unite. With a tip of the cap to their rural surroundings’ past, Star Wing is a Suffolk brewery to be proud of, producing distinctive, high quality ales.

The idyllic surroundings of the brewery are also home to a tap room where beer lovers can enjoy a pint brewed just yards away, as well as a café and bakery.
